The Capitol Building

The beautiful Colorado State Capitol building is the nation’s only capitol building with a LEED® Gold certification. Read more about the certification.

Many organizations contribute to the ongoing work of the state capitol building’s upkeep. Partner organizations include the Colorado General Assembly, the Governor's Office, the Lieutenant Governor's Office, the Department of Personnel & Administration (including Colorado State Archives, the State Architect's Office and the Division of Central Services), History Colorado and several private partners.

Happy Holidays!  Please note: on Friday, December 23, 2022, the Capitol will be open for self-guided tours only. Mr. Brown's Attic Museum and the dome observation area will be closed.   The Capitol will be closed on Monday, December 26, 2022, and Monday, January 3, 2023.

Nov. 23, 2022 - Public Good, an exhibition at the Colorado State Capitol, is presented by Colorado Creative Industries, the Golden Triangle Creative District, and IRL Art. This is the first time in history that NFTs will be on display at an American state capitol building.

Nov. 23, 2022 - Please note the Capitol will be closed Thanksgiving Day, and Visitor Services will be closed Friday, November 25. The Capitol will be open for self-guided tours only on Friday, November 25. Mr. Brown's Attic museum and and the dome observation area will be closed. Our regular tour schedule will resume on Monday, November 28. Have a wonderful holiday!
