The beautiful Colorado State Capitol building is the nation’s only capitol building with a LEED® Gold certification. Read more about the certification.
Many organizations contribute to the ongoing work of the state capitol building’s upkeep. Partner organizations include the Colorado General Assembly, the Governor's Office, the Lieutenant Governor's Office, the Department of Personnel & Administration (including Colorado State Archives, the State Architect's Office and the Division of Central Services), History Colorado and several private partners.

The Capitol is open Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm. The Visitor Information Desk is open Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm. Free guided tours are available Monday through Friday, on the hour between 10:00am and 3:00pm.

School Tours
Please be advised that the Colorado State Capitol field trip program is fully booked for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year. You are able to book field trips up to one year in advance and doing so is strongly recommended. Self-guided field trips are allowed, but will not include a trip to the Dome Observation area. Please email capitol.tours@coleg.gov for self guiding materials or with questions.
Closure Information
The Capitol is closed on some holidays and may be closed due to adverse weather and other events.
