The beautiful Colorado State Capitol building is the nation’s only capitol building with a LEED® Gold certification. Read more about the certification.
Many organizations contribute to the ongoing work of the state capitol building’s upkeep. Partner organizations include the Colorado General Assembly, the Governor's Office, the Lieutenant Governor's Office, the Department of Personnel & Administration (including Colorado State Archives, the State Architect's Office and the Division of Central Services), History Colorado and several private partners.

Tour Information
Fall 2024
The Capitol is open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. All tours are free. The dome is accessible by stairs only.
Guided Tours
Capitol tours are limited to 30 people on a first come, first served basis.
- When: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Dome included: Yes
- Duration: About 1 Hour
Self-Guided Tours
Guests are welcome to self-guide through the Capitol building.
- When: 7:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday
- Dome included: No
- Duration: Variable
School Tours
Please be advised that the Colorado State Capitol field trip program is fully booked for the remainder of the 23/24 school year. You are able to book field trips up to one year in advance and doing so is strongly recommended. Self guided field trips are allowed, but will not include a trip to the Dome Observation area. Please email capitol.tours@coleg.gov for self guiding materials or with questions.
Closure Information
The Capitol is closed on some holidays and may be closed due to adverse weather and other events.
