Spring 2024 Tour Information

Field Trips

The Colorado State Capitol field trip program is fully booked for the remainder of the 23/24 school year. You are able to book field trips up to one year in advance and doing so is strongly recommended. Self-guided field trips are allowed, but will not include a trip to the Dome Observation area. Please email capitol.tours@coleg.gov for self guiding materials or with questions. 

Spring 2023 Tour Information

The Capitol building is open from 7:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Free guided tours are available at 10am, 11am, 12pm, and 1pm, and are first come, first serve. Guided tours include a trip to the Dome observation deck. Guests are also welcome to self guide through the building as well, but please note, the dome is not accessible except on guided tours.

Holiday 2022 Closures

Happy Holidays!  Please note: on Friday, December 23, 2022, the Capitol will be open for self-guided tours only.

  • Mr. Brown's Attic Museum and the dome observation area will be closed.  

The Capitol will be closed on Monday, December 26, 2022, and Monday, January 3, 2023.

First NFT Exhibit at an American State Capitol Building

Nov. 23, 2022 - Public Good, an exhibition at the Colorado State Capitol, is presented by Colorado Creative Industries, the Golden Triangle Creative District, and IRL Art. This is the first time in history that NFTs will be on display at an American state capitol building.

Holiday Closure for Tours

Nov. 23, 2022 - Please note the Capitol will be closed Thanksgiving Day, and Visitor Services will be closed Friday, November 25. The Capitol will be open for self-guided tours only on Friday, November 25. Mr. Brown's Attic museum and and the dome observation area will be closed. Our regular tour schedule will resume on Monday, November 28. Have a wonderful holiday!

 

Capitol Tour Schedule Through 2022

The Capitol is open Monday-Friday, 7:30-5:00.  Free guided tours are available Monday-Friday at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m.  Capitol tours are limited to 20 people on a first come, first served basis.  All tours begin at the Visitor Information Desk, north side, first floor.

Tour Information

The Capitol will be open for self-guided tours only Monday, September 27 through Friday, October 1.  

  • Mr. Brown's Attic Museum and the dome observation area will be closed during this time.  

The Capitol will be closed Monday, October 4. 

Tours will resume on Tuesday, October 5.

State Capitol Open for Public Guided Tours

We are pleased to announce that we are again offering free guided tours of the Capitol, beginning June 16, 2021. 

These tours take about an hour and include a trip to the dome observation area. The dome is a 99-step climb above the 3rd floor and is accessible by stairs only. If you are not able to make the climb, we offer a video presentation of the dome on the third floor.  (Self-guided tours of the dome are not permitted.)
